first impression: Rapunzel of Sweden hair extensions
Sunday, August 10, 2014Hello darlings,
last Tuesday I ordered a new set of human hair extensions. I was torn between two companies to order from, one being Doll Hair Collection and one called Rapunzel Of Sweden. Both get magnificent review on blogs and Youtube so I wasn't sure which one to pick from. Unfortunately Doll Hair Collection didn't have the hair I wanted in stock and I didn't want to wait for like ever because I'm that kind of person that can't wait when she sets her mind on something.
Let's go back in time before I go any further. When I was little I had the most amazing long and beautiful hair any girl could wish for, it was thick and long and really lovely. Yet everyday was a struggle to get it de-tangled and my mum made the decision to cut it off. I didn't mind for years really but once I was a teenager, and in my emo/scene kind of years, I wanted to have long hair again. Yet I'm not good at waiting but most importantly I didn't know about ebay and cheap clip on extensions back then except for the synthetic ones that is. So getting extensions then was like €500 or something and like every other teenager I assume I didn't have the money for it nor did I really want to spent €500 on anything (unless I got a hell load of things in return).
It did start to grow again but after a failed bleaching and colouring experiment in my first year of college (I wanted to go from black to purple) I had to cut it all of again. Again I didn't mind for a few months and then I got sick of my short hair again. But now I knew about clip on extensions and how they aren't that pricey at all.
I bought a 2 or 3 packs over the years from ebay and I went to a local hair dressers shop called Florale Haircare in Hasselt and Leuven and bought some there as well. The ebay ones are nice to use if it's only for once in a while like say for a photo shoot or so but if you use them more than a month or two day in day out they shed a lot and aren't that nice at all anymore. I did love the other store ones but I did ruin them myself by dyeing them way too often (and bleaching).
After I had my pixie cut/Miley Cyrus kind of hairstyle last August I went back to my ebay extensions in October. A few months ago I talked to a friend who told me she and her friend went to Brussels (Matogné) and got a weave done real cheap. So after a few weeks I gave in and went. I loved the look of my hair it wasn't too long at all and they felt really nice as well. But after a few washes I noticed a difference and thought it was me who didn't take care of them good enough. So two months went and I went back for a new set. Again same problem. Now I knew it wasn't me but the extensions weren't the best quality at all.
So back to this week, I ordered a weft of the Original Straight in #10 ash brown. I couldn't choose a length so I had to go with the 50cm/20inch ones but I didn't mind. They arrived on Friday which I didn't expect because I chose the regular postage instead of the Ups one but I was really pleased with it arriving this soon. They were hella long. Like seriously they were 3 times the length of my other extensions I had in.
So I took my old ones out, dyed my hair and dyed the upper part of the extensions so it faded to a nice ombre and my nephew, who's in beauty school, helped me get them in and cut of about 5cm because otherwise it would look so fake on me.
