FINISHED stomach piece with Q&A

Wednesday, October 07, 2015

Hello darlings,

two years ago I started my stomach piece, now it's finally finished!
I promised a little Q&A after everything was done so here are not only pictures of the process but also answers to your questions and the things you should consider before you get your belly tattooed.

So I started of with getting the birdcage in the summer of 2013, why a birdcage you might ask? well I wanted something to represent the struggles I've been through becoming the person I am today. I've grown a lot over the last 5-7 years. That's why I wanted the door to be open. A bird would need someone else to open the door and to be set free as well. And I needed my friends and family to get to the point I am today.

I also wanted the flowers around it to show how much I've grown, like flowers do every season. And every once in a while I grow a little more. So I keep on growing, even with the struggles of today, like winter is for nature.

Q&A

1. Did it hurt?
It hurts like a motherfucker YES. This one's done in 3 sessions as you can tell from the pictures above. And only the second session somewhat was okay to deal with. The last one was the worst.

2. How long did it take?
Well in total I'd say about 7 hours.

3. How do you take care of it?
As with all tattoos you put some creme on it for about 3 times a day the first week. Never touch it with unwashed hands, never towel dry it let it air dry instead. And it helps me a lot to wear a crop top with this one around the house so my clothes don't irritate the skin too much.

4. How much did it cost?
I really don't want to talk money about this. It all depends on your artist and the tattoo you want. You can ask for the same thing and it might be double the price or 100 bucks less. Go inform yourself by the artist of your choice :)

5. But, what about kids?
I don't want any kids (of my own) so I won't "ruin" my tattoos by pregnancy. And if I ever do change my mind I don't really care it it does change with pregnancy, it's all part of your journey anyways.

My go to artist is Philippe Bonamie @ Inkglorious Zelzate, Belgium
